The story takes place three years after the second major invasion of the Southern Song Dynasty by the Jin Empire. Picking up where the first game left off, the tale follows Zhang Ru Meng, the son of the great Southern Song general and famed swordsman "Flying Sword" Zhang Feng, and Nan Gong Cai Hong, daughter of the Jin Empire’s grand advisor and "Heavenly Sword" Nan Gong Mie. Once bitter enemies, the two became lovers. They retreated to live in the distant desert, away from worldly affairs. In a flash, twenty years pass. Their son, Nan Gong Fei Yun, is now sixteen years old. Gifted both intellectually and in martial arts, he has begun to show real promise. For the sake of his future, his parents decide to send him out of the desert to seek his uncle Du Gu Jian (son of the immortal swordsman Du Gu Yun) and aunt Yang Ying, hoping that under their guidance, he will gradually integrate into society. Smart yet completely naïve about the world, Nan Gong Fei Yun steps into a realm he knows nothing about. With mixed Han and Jin heritage, he finds himself rejected by both nations due to his parentage. Having lived in the desert all his life, everything is new and fascinating to him. His curiosity leads him to accidentally rescue a beautiful young girl—the very image of the girl he has seen in his dreams! But it takes a long time before he learns her name: Ruo Xue. Her identity is mysterious, and her actions enigmatic. At the time, the Song and Jin are locked in fierce opposition, like water and fire. But Fei Yun, unaware of the bigger political landscape, cares for none of it—his heart is filled with just one person, and he is determined to find her no matter how far he must go. On this quest to find his beloved, our protagonist encounters friends and foes alike. With unforgettable longing, sincere friendships, a perilous journey, deadly traps, and tangled clues, the story unfolds with the entangled grievances of the martial world, taking Fei Yun from one trap to another. Through its dramatic plot twists, richly developed characters, suspenseful progressions, and humorous yet lighthearted dialogue, Sword Heroes' Fate 2 presents a tragic tale of an era—told in the form of a comedy.
